Our Common Steel Grating Types

Welded Steel Grating
Welded steel grating is made by welding steel cross bars and steel bars. Welded steel grating is an economical and practical product for walkways, platforms, catwalks, stair treads, sandwich panels, security screens and general industrial and commercial use. Welded gratings are made of carbon, galvanized and stainless steel alloys.

Pressure Lock Steel Grating
The pressure-lock grille is a versatile type of metal grille that comes with a range of bar spacing options. For architectural use, this type of grill is highly recommended for a variety of applications. This includes closed grid grills that meet the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), grills for high-traffic pedestrian streets, as well as decorative facades and grilles. At Argus Steel, we offer pressure locking gratings made from materials such as carbon steel, galvanized steel, aluminum, and stainless steel. With our range of materials, you can be assured of finding a solution that meets your specific needs and installation requirements.

Gasket Locking Steel Grating
Aluminum rod grilles are widely used, and among them, gasket locking grills are particularly common. These grilles are put together by punching a square cross rail through an aluminum bearing rod, which is done using a walk-away technique that locks the grille in place. These grilles are perfect for walkways where the weight of the material is a major concern. Compared to steel and stainless steel grille panels, aluminum grilles are much lighter, making them an ideal alternative.

Steel, galvanized, stainless steel, aluminum, and fiberglass are common types of materials used in various industries. Steel is highly durable and strong, making it a popular choice for construction projects. Galvanized steel is coated with zinc to prevent corrosion and rust, making it ideal for outdoor use. Stainless steel, on the other hand, is resistant to rust, corrosion, and staining, making it an ideal material for manufacturing and food processing industries.

Aluminum is lightweight, durable, and has excellent corrosion resistance. It is widely used in the aerospace industry, transportation, and construction. Fiberglass is a synthetic material that is lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and has excellent electrical insulation properties. It is popularly used in the construction of boats, automobile bodies, and airplane parts due to its excellent durability and strength. Overall, the choice of material depends on the specific application and the desired properties required for the project.

The dimensions for the Bearing Rod's Depth and Thickness are 1 inch by 3/16 inch.

The center to center spacing of the bearing rod on the 19-W4 is equivalent to 1-3/16 inches or 19/16 inches.

The bar spacing for the grating is 19-W-4 with a center-to-center distance of 4 inches in the direction of the bearing bar span. The grating is either powder coated or galvanized and has a finely ground finish.

For a 1-1/4"x3/16" 19W4 steel grating that is galvanized and has a span of 3'x15"-6", you will need 12 pieces of anchors. These can be either saddle clips, anchor blocks, nail welds, Z clips or board lugs. On the other hand, for a 2"x3/8" 22W4 steel grating that has a mill finish and a span of 3'x20', you will require 6 pieces of anchors. Make sure to use the type of anchor specified for each grating to ensure maximum stability.
